Where will my scan take place?
Your MRI scan appointment will take place at either one of our two locations located in Newton Le Willows – Cheshire and Preston – Lancashire. Free Parking is available for all patients attending including disability parking and lift access on site. Our Imaging Centres are centrally based for those travelling from Lancashire, Merseyside and Manchester and we are just 5 minutes drive off the M6 Motorway.
Who can refer for my MRI scan
We can accept referrals from medical professionals such as GP, Consultants, Physiotherapist etc. Alternatively, we can accept self referrals for your scan appointment. For self referrals, you must be registered with a GP, or be under the care of a responsible medical practitioner at the time of booking your scan. This is to ensure your follow up treatment plan can be made by a responsible health care professional.
How long will it take to book my scan?
Once we receive your self referral form we will contact you same day to arrange your MRI Scan appointment. We aim to have your scan booked within 48 hours and a Consultant Radiologist written report within 48 hours from the time of the scan.
We may require one of our Physiotherapists or Private GP to call you for the purpose of providing a referral to us. There will be no additional cost for this to your scan price.
Once we have have received your MRI Scan report we will send a copy to yourself and your referring clinician to ensure an accurate follow up pathway is maintained. For musculoskeletal scan areas such as Knee, Shoulder, Ankle, your MRI Scan report can also be sent to your physiotherapist if required.
How long will my scan take?
As we use one of the latest technologies in MRI Scanning, we perform scans in shorter times than ever before without compromising on image quality. Typically a one area scan will range from 8-15 minutes. A Two area scan will take approximately 15-25 minutes depending on the area being scanned. The scan time for patients a Brain and Body MRI scan will be approximately 70-75 minutes.
How much will the scan cost?
Prices for your MRI Scan start from £299. The MRI scan package includes the following:
– One area MRI Scan (Booked within 1-3 days)
– Consultant Radiologist Written Report within 48 hours
– Pre Scan Telephone Consultation call and scan referral.
– Option to discuss your results post scan for the majority of scans including all MSK related scans, to be agreed at the time of booking.
– Image Exchange Portal to transfer your scans to any Private or NHS Hospital/Consultant if required for follow up appointment.

What does the brain & body scan package include?
Your Brain and Body MRI Scan Includes Detailed Imaging of the following areas:
– Pre Scan GP Telephone Consultation Call
– MRI Full Brain Scan
– MRI Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine (Whole Spine) including imaging of the spinal cord.
– MRI Abdomen – Screening scan to include Liver, Kidney, Spleen, Pancreas and Key Organs.
– MRI Pelvis to Include Both Hips and Scaro-Illiac Joint screening
– Consultant Radiologist Report of any abnormalities and normal findings
– Image Transfer to any NHS or Private Hospital on request

I am claustrophobic and anxious to have my scan, is there anything you can do?
Our MRI Scan system is a widebore scanner which means there is more room surrounding yourself and the bore of the scanner compared to traditional scanners. For the majority of our scans, you can be taken in to the scanner feet first except if you are having a Brain, Cervical spine or upper arm scans.
Our Senior Diagnostic Radiographers will be happy to talk you through the procedure to ease your anxiety as well as talk to you during your scan. Which area scans do you provide?
We provide detailed high resolution cross sectional imaging of almost any part of your body. Based on your clinical history and symptoms, your referral will be reviewed by a Consultant Radiologist and/or Senior Diagnostic Radiographers to ensure an accurate imaging protocol is applied based on your symptoms.
Examples of common areas we scan includes Brain, Spine, Abdomen, Pelvis to include hips, Knee, Foot, Ankle, Wrist etc . Each area will take approximately 10-12 minutes to scan.
We also provide CT Scan Imaging of any body area where clinically justified including CT Heart Calcium score screening scan. The waiting time for CT can be longer than MRI due to demand/availability. Additionally, we offer Chest X-ray imaging and Digital High Resolution X-ray imaging of any other part of the body where clinically justified.
I have a consultant appointment with the NHS. How will my images be seen by my consultant?
If you require your MRI Scan images to be sent to any NHS or Private Hospital for a consultant to review your MRI scan on your next consultation or prior to any treatment, we can send your MRI scan images directly via the Hospital Networks Image Exchange Portal (IEP).
We would require an email request from the hospital sent to info@pro-scanimaging.com requesting this directly to us a minimum of 48 hours prior to your consultant follow up. The IEP Portal is a secure image exchange portal through which NHS and Private Hospitals can directly request these images. There is no additional costs for this and the transfer process is very straight forward.
Cancellation Policy
We understand such circumstances may arise prior to your scan appointment which would mean you are not able to arrange your scan appointment. We will be happy to re-arrange your appointment at a later date at no additional cost as long as we have been notified 48 hours prior to your scan appointment date and time.
For cancellation requests within 48 hours, you would be charged the total amount of your scan as we may not be able to re-use your appointment slot for other patients. Please note you must inform us of your cancellation via email on info@pro-scanimaging.com
